- Asian Metal successfully held the 8th World Aluminum Raw Materials Summit 2017 during May 18-20 in Sanya, Hainan. The summit focused on imported bauxite and covered alumina, electrolytic aluminum, aluminum fluoride and carbon. Over 300 delegates from China, Russia, Malaysia, Australia, India, Guinea, USA, the UK, France, Indonesia, Singapore, Turkey and Iran attended the summit. The summit created excellent condition for Belt and Road Initiative in aluminum industry and stimulated China’s investment in bauxite overseas and guaranteed safe production of alumina in China.

During the summit, they gave us wonderful speeches about bauxite, alumina, electrolytic aluminum and aluminum fluoride.

The Guinean Kakande bauxite project of Rundi Aluminum can be considered as the overseas strategy model of Chinese private aluminum companies and has brought opportunities for market participants to make wealth. The known reserves of gibbsite bauxite in Kakade mining district of Rundi Aluminum have been nearly 500 million tons now with net present values of USD1.38 billion. The annual exploitation volume can reach 10 million tons after two years of rapid construction.

Alcoa started to exploit bauxite in 1916 with known reserves of 243 million tons. Its mining districts are located in several large reserving countries of bauxite—Guinea, Australia and Brazil (reserves of the three country account for about 60% of the global total). The output of bauxite was 45 million dry tons in 2016.

As one of largest mining property in Guinea, the Telimele bauxite project of Eurasian Resources has 5 billion tons of ore reserves and plans to sell ores to China and the Middle East in August 2018.

The bauxite project of Metro Mining is located in West Cape York, Queensland, Australia with ore reserves of about 92.20 million tons. The project will go into production in April 2018 based on plans and its designed capacity will be 6 million tons per year with the output in the first year to be 2 million tons.

The Bel Air bauxite project of Alufer Mining in Guinea plans to go into production in the third quarter of 2018 with annual output of 5.5 million tons in initial stage. It is expected that the life of its mine can reach 17 years.
