- Sponsored by Baotou Santoku Battery Materials Co., Ltd. and Hunan Nonferrous Fluoride Chemical Group, Asian Metal successfully hosted the 7th Rare Earth Summit on 15 May, in Chongqing, China, with around 150 participants from the rare earth industry chain, both in overseas and domestic markets, participating.
- The summit officially opened at 9am on 15 May. Zesong Hu, Chairman of Leshan Shenghe Rare Earth Science and Technology Co., Ltd. made the opening speech. Then, he updated us on the development and utilization prospects of Dalucao Rare Earth Mine in Dechang County. Mr. Hu elaborated with a detailed summary of the characteristics, exploitation and utilization situation, covering rare earth resources in Sichuan, as well as development and utilization prospects at Dalucao rare earth mine in Dechang County. Afterwards, Baoyu Sun, Chairman of Shenyang General Magnetic Co., Ltd., gave a report, providing “A Brief Analysis of the Present Status of Nd-Fe-B Permanent Magnet Patents”.
- Wenjie Shen, Sales Manager at Changzhou Geoquin Nanometer New Material Co., Ltd., delivered a report, “Analysis and Outlook of the Chinese Nanometer Rare Earth Market” after the tea break. He introduced the concept of nanometer rare earth, analyzing the current situation and development trends. Thereafter, Nick Kotaki, Director of Material Trading Company Ltd. dissected the Japanese economy, examining demand and supply in the Japanese market, and drew an outline of the rare earth market over the coming years.
- During the afternoon, Runsheng Zhuo, General Manager of Leshan Rezel Catalysts Co.,Ltd., gave a report on “Applications of Rare Earth in the Petrochemical and Fine Chemical Industries--Status & Outlook”. According to him, “a spring for rare earth development and applications is coming”. The next speaker was Melvin Hill, Manager of Aminco Resources LLC. He analyzed the abuse of North American enterprises, and proposed solutions around pilot-line production and subdividing target industries and short swing profit rules.
- After the discussion during the coffee break, Rain Lary, Director of Rechi Precision Co., Ltd., which is the fourth-largest air conditioning compressor producer in the world, introduced us to developments in rare earth applications in air conditioning compressors. Soon afterwards, Robert Mosig, Managing Director CEO of Platina Resources Limited, stated the importance of rare earths and scandium in aerospace technology. And finally, Lei Liu, General Manager of Hunan Nonferrous Fluoride Chemical Group gave a report on “Rare Earth Fluoride Research and Production: Status Quo and Prospects”. Mr. Liu also elaborated on the wet process, dry process and new dry process of producing rare earth fluoride.
- Organized by Asian Metal, the 7th International Rare Earth Summit came to a successful conclusion at 5pm on 15 May, thanks to the strong support of Baotou Santoku Battery Materials Co., Ltd and Hunan Nonferrous Fluoride Chemical Group, as well as all of the representatives.
