- Asian Metal successfully held the 6th Rare Earth Summit from March 19-21, in Nanning, Guangxi, China, which around 150 participants of rare earth industry chain from overseas and domestic markets took part in.
- The summit officially opened at 9 A.M. on March 20. Guhua Hu, Chairman of Chinaclo Guangxi Non-ferrous Rare Earth Development Co., Ltd. made an opening speech firstly. Then, he discussed the development of rare earth industry in Guangxi. During his presentation, Mr Hu explained that the region is rich in rare earth resources, and the rare earth industry has vast space for development there. He also introduced the program of rare earth development in Guangxi. Soon afterwards, Andre, CFO of Araxa Metal made a report on their rare earth project. He also introduced the distribution of rare earths in Brazil.
- Jian Li, Director of Chinese Ministry of Commerce International Trade and Economic Cooperation Research Institute, made a report on Chinese Macro Economy and the current situation of Foreign Trade after the tea break. Mr Li expressed that the global economy is in a period of adjustment, and the Chinese economy faces transformational challenge. He also noted that quality competition needs to surpass price competition in foreign trading. The next speaker was Robert Mosig, Managing Director CEO of Platina Resources Limited. Robert analyzed the distribution, application , demand and development prospects for scandium.
- During the afternoon, Bo Yuan, Deputy General Manager of Tianjin Tianhe Advanced Tech Magnet Co., Ltd made a report on the technology innovation of NdFeB manufacturing---grain boundary diffusion process (DDP). Mr Yuan illustrated the development of Grain boundary diffusion process. After that, Pol Le Roux, Vice President of Sales and Marketing Department of Lynas Corporation introduced their rare earth Business Model. He also gave participants his outlook of rare earth industry. Meanwhile, he analyzed the demand for rare earth products from NdFeB magnets industry.
- After the discussion during coffee break, Huizhong Yan, Professor of Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earths, elaborated the status and prospects of the rare earth hydrogen storage market. He also presented new technologies and equipment regarding rare earth hydrogen storage. Afterwards, Melvin Hill, Sales Manager of Aminco Resources LCC, gave a vivid introduction of rare earth supply situation in North America. Melvin analyzed rare earth production in North America and China in recent years. He also outlined the production costs of major rare earth projects in North America. Finally, Wei Liu, Manager of UBS SDIC Fund Management Co., Ltd. provided details on the relationship between rare earths and capital markets. He elaborated from four aspects :the application of rare earth in emerging industry markets, Chinese rare earth prices, Chinese rare earth policy and investment analysis of listed rare earth companies . Additionally, he gave a lively introduction of the relationship between rare earth and capital markets.
