Australian tungsten producer EQ Resources (EQR) increased tungsten production and sales in the third quarter, supported by a sharp recovery at its Barruecopardo mine in Spain.
EQR produces tungsten concentrate at its Mount Carbine mine in Australia and its Barruecopardo mine, which forms part of the Saloro mining complex. Production increased year on year at both mines, EQR said in its quarterly report.
EQR's tungsten trioxide production increased by almost 78pc year on year to 51,233 mtu in the quarter, up from 28,834 mtu a year earlier. Production was also up by 81pc from 28,315 mtu in the previous quarter. Combined sales rose by 69pc quarter on quarter to 49,715 mtu from 29,468 mtu.
EQR increased guidance to 240,000-280,000 mtu in the 2027 financial year, which in Australia runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.
Tungsten trioxide output at Mount Carbine rose to 17,145 mtu from 4,610 mtu a year earlier. It was up by 31pc from 13,050 mtu in the previous quarter.
The company is also expanding crushing capacity, with commissioning expected in January-March.
Tungsten trioxide output at Barruecopardo was boosted by the resumption of mining from the lower pit after dewatering works and improved access to higher-grade ore.
Output rose to 34,088 mtu from 24,255 mtu in the corresponding period of 2025. It more than doubled from 15,265 mtu in the previous quarter.
EQR also said a previously reported risk of a temporary suspension of operations at Barruecopardo had been mitigated after engagement with the Territorial Service of Industry, Commerce & Economy of Salamanca, Spain.
