Teck profit surges as copper prices hit record highs

Teck Resources reported a more than fivefold increase in third-quarter profit, as record copper prices and stronger production boosted earnings ahead of its planned $54-billion merger with Anglo American.

Copper production rose 11% to 115,700 tonnes, with gains across all operations except Carmen de Andacollo in central Chile, where extreme weather disrupted output. Despite severe conditions, the company's Quebrada Blanca mine in northern Chile produced 47,200 tonnes.

Red Dog zinc-in-concentrate sales volumes of 246,700 tonnes were within the company's previously disclosed guidance range for Q3.

Teck kept its 2026 production guidance unchanged at 455,000–530,000 tonnes for copper, 410,000–460,000 tonnes for zinc, and 190,000–230,000 tonnes for refined zinc.
