Mingzhu Mining's Jiaoyuan Nangou tailings pond resumes iron concentrate production
Guangdong Mingzhu announced on September 21 that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Guangdong Mingzhu Group Mining Co., Ltd., temporarily suspended tailings discharge at the Jiaoyuan Nangou tailings pond starting July 15 for safety rectification after the total dam height exceeded the design limit by 1 meter. The rectification passed acceptance review on September 19, was confirmed complete by the Heyuan Municipal Emergency Management Bureau on September 20 following an on-site re-inspection, and tailings discharge and iron concentrate production resumed on September 21.
During the suspension period, the company's iron concentrate output and sales in the third quarter of 2026 declined, and the shutdown is expected to have a significant adverse impact on the company's overall cash flow and operating profit for the quarter.
As of December 15, 2025, the mining license for Mingzhu Mining's mine contained 7.4656 million tonnes of iron ore resources.
