Quy Xa iron mine officially resumes operations, with a projected yield of over 1 million tons of ore in 2026
On September 10th, the Quy Xa iron mine (Lao Cai) officially resumed operations, with the first shipments of ore transported to the Lao Cai Iron and Steel Plant. According to the plan, the mine is expected to extract more than 1 million tons of ore by the end of 2026.
Currently, the legal procedures for mining operations have been completed. The mining entity is Capital Metal Mining and Processing Joint Stock Company.
The total permitted iron ore reserves at the Quy Xa mine are over 73 million tons; the maximum mining capacity is 5 million tons of raw ore per year, with a mining period of 15 years and 8 months.
Iron ore extracted from the Quy Xa mine will first and foremost ensure a supply of raw materials for the Lao Cai Iron and Steel Plant of Vietnam-China Mineral and Metallurgical Company Limited (VTM), while also supplying domestic iron and steel production facilities according to market principles.
According to the plan, the Quy Xa mine is expected to extract more than 1 million tons of ore from now until the end of 2026.
