DMCI Mining confident in achieving nickel output target

DMCI Mining Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of listed DMCI Holdings, Inc., expects to meet its nickel ore production target this year, supported by strong shipments from its mining operations in Palawan and Zambales.

"We are on track to reach our target of 3 million metric tons for this year," DMCI Mining President Tulsi Das Reyes told reporters late Wednesday.

The company currently operates one active mining site in Palawan-the Long Point site-and two in Zambales, which are run by Zambales Diversified Metals Corp. and Zambales Chromite Mining Co.

The Long Point site, which spans 2,177 hectares and is managed by Berong Nickel Corp., began commercial operations last March. The mine has an estimated lifespan of 18 years.
