The Shanghai municipal government unveiled its15th Five-Year Plan for accelerating the development of an international trade center. The plan outlines measures to broaden the scope of bulk commodity trading, with a particular focus on expanding transaction volumes of key base metals such as copper and aluminum.

It also calls for accelerating the establishment of a comprehensive futures contract lineup for emerging battery metals including lithium, cobalt and nickel, while enhancing the service ecosystem for new-energy commodities. In addition, the plan supports the construction of a hydrogen-based green energy trading platform in the Lingang New Area.
