Vietnam's steel industry maintained strong momentum in the first seven months of 2026, despite ongoing trade challenges, according to data from the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA).
Finished steel production reached 21.4 million metric tons in the January-July period, up 15.4% year on year. Domestic steel product sales totaled 21.18 million metric tons, reflecting a 15.6% increase over the same period last year.
Export performance also improved, with finished steel exports rising 4.2% to 6.69 million metric tons. The export value climbed 7.4% year on year to an estimated $4.54 billion.
Meanwhile, finished steel imports grew 4% to 9 million metric tons in the first seven months, with the import value increasing 7.5% to $6.68 billion.
