EU imposes provisional anti-dumping duties on Chinese silico-manganese steel wires

The European Commission has published a notice imposing provisional anti-dumping (AD) duties ranging from 75.3% to 102.4% on certain silico-manganese steel wires originating in the People's Republic of China.

The product subject to the measures is silico-manganese steel wire with a diameter ranging from 0.6 mm to 4 mm, containing by weight a maximum of 0.2% carbon, 0.6% to 1.4% silicon, and 0.9% to 1.9% manganese. The product contains no other elements that alter its alloy characteristics and may be supplied uncoated or coated with copper, bronze, wax, or oil-based lubricants. These materials are used as filler materials in welding applications across a wide range of industries, including construction, automotive, shipbuilding, aviation, sustainable energy, power generation, defence, and electronics and electrical sectors. The products fall under CN code ex 7229 20 00 (TARIC code 7229 20 00 10).

The provisional duties are applied at the following individual company rates:

75.3% for Changzhou City Yunhe Welding Material Co., Ltd.
102.4% for Juli New Material Technology (Rizhao) Co., Ltd. and Shandong Juli Welding Co., Ltd.
93.1% for cooperating exporters not individually named
102.4% for all other Chinese producers

Interested parties may submit written comments within 15 calendar days of the publication of the notice, or request a hearing within 5 calendar days. Customs authorities are instructed to discontinue the registration of imports, while the data collected during the registration period will be preserved for the purpose of final determinations.
