Guinea's Nimba Mining to offer bauxite via monthly tender system

Nimba Mining, Guinea's state-owned bauxite producer, plans to sell its output through monthly tenders open to international trading companies. The miner is also seeking a commercial partner willing to commit to minimum annual purchase volumes.

The company has already reached production of 4.2 million tons and is targeting 10 million tons for 2026.

As Nimba Mining scales up operations-aiming for 10 million tons this year and an annual capacity of 12 million tons starting in 2027-it is rolling out a commercial strategy designed to secure stable off-take arrangements. The company was established by the Guinean government about a year ago.

According to a Reuters report citing Chief Executive Patrice L'Huillier, Nimba Mining will hold monthly tenders accessible to international trading firms. L'Huillier outlined a dual-track approach: first, the company intends to sign a partnership agreement that locks in a minimum guaranteed annual sales volume; any output beyond that commitment will then be marketed on the spot market through the monthly tender process.
