Nippon Steel completes new hot rolling mill at Nagoya Works

Nippon Steel has officially commissioned a new hot-rolling mill at its Nagoya Works, with commercial operations commencing on August 6. The facility represents an investment of approximately 300 billion yen and has an annual production capacity of 6 million tons, specifically engineered to produce high-grade thin sheets for the automotive sector.

The company stated that the new hot-rolling production line will enhance its competitiveness and drive technological advancement. Construction of the plant began in May 2022.

Looking ahead, hot-rolled wide strip is projected to account for 48.3% of Japan's domestic output in fiscal year 2025–2026, amounting to approximately 34.7 million tons.
