India's crude steel output rises 1.2% in July 2026, finished steel consumption up 6.5%

India's crude steel production for July 2026 is provisionally estimated at 14.3 million metric tons, marking a year-on-year increase of 1.2 percent, according to data released by the Ministry of Steel on Friday, August 7.

Finished steel output for the month is estimated at 13.7 million metric tons, up 1.4 percent compared to the same period last year, the statement said.

During the April–July period of fiscal year 2026–27, crude steel production totaled 56.3 million metric tons, reflecting a 2.5 percent year-on-year rise, while finished steel output reached 54.3 million metric tons, up 4 percent year on year.

In July, finished steel consumption in India stood at 14.4 million metric tons, representing growth of 6.5 percent. Cumulative steel consumption during the April–July period of 2026–27 amounted to 55.9 million metric tons, an increase of 7.8 percent year on year.
