Brazilian crude steel output holds steady in June versus year-ago levels

Brazil's crude steel production reached 2.837 million metric tons in June, remaining virtually unchanged from the 2.834 million metric tons recorded in June 2025, according to data from the Brazilian Steel Institute (IABr). On an annual comparison, rolled product output declined by 8% to 1.832 million metric tons, with flat products falling 12.8% to 1.008 million metric tons and long products down 1.2% to 824,000 metric tons. Domestic steel product sales also weakened, dropping 5% to 1.8 million metric tons. Apparent steel consumption fell 11% to 2.2 million metric tons, while exports declined 14.8% to 912,000 metric tons and imports slumped 20.1% to 476,000 metric tons.
