Vedanta posts record Q1 FY27 output in zinc and ferrochrome

Vedanta Limited, the global natural resources conglomerate, has announced its operational performance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. Following the systematic demerger of several business units, the streamlined parent company reported record production volumes across its core zinc and ferrochrome assets.

The company's Zinc India division achieved its highest-ever first-quarter mined metal production at 268,000 tonnes, up 1% year-on-year, driven primarily by improved ore grades. Saleable metal production rose 4% to 260,000 tonnes, while refined zinc output specifically increased by 6% to 213,000 tonnes.

Zinc International's operations across overseas mines delivered a combined mined metal output of 48,000 tonnes.

Meanwhile, the FACOR business reported ferrochrome production of 29,000 tonnes, up 4% year-on-year, while ore production surged 41% to a record 153,000 tonnes, supported by the restart of the Kalarangiatta mines and pre-monsoon stockpiling.
