Angang hits new milestone with continuous casting of high-manganese non-magnetic steel

Recently, the No.2 Steelmaking and Rolling Operation Department of Angang successfully completed the smelting and continuous casting production of 20Mn23AlV high-manganese non-magnetic steel, marking the first time it has achieved stable continuous casting for this steel grade.

20Mn23AlV high-manganese non-magnetic steel is a key category within the high-end specialty steel sector. With its extremely low magnetic permeability, excellent mechanical toughness, and favorable processing characteristics, it has become a critical material in power transformers, precision electronic instruments, aerospace precision components, and other high-end manufacturing fields. The steel enjoys strong market demand and promising application prospects. However, its unique alloy composition--with exceptionally high manganese and aluminum content--makes it prone to issues such as compositional inhomogeneity and process fluctuations during production, imposing stringent requirements on process control throughout the steelmaking and continuous casting stages.
