Australia imposes provisional anti-dumping and countervailing duties on flat-rolled steel from China and South Korea

Australia's Anti-Dumping Commission has issued an affirmative preliminary determination on certain flat-rolled steel products, paving the way for interim trade remedies. Under Notice No. 2026/083, the government has imposed provisional anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duties (CVD) effective June 24, 2026, applicable to imports originating from China and South Korea. The duties will be collected in the form of security deposits.

Provisional penalty rates vary according to exporter cooperation levels. Chinese manufacturers face AD rates ranging from 9.4% to 51.2%, with countervailing duties ranging from zero to 4.5%. Meanwhile, non-cooperating and residual suppliers from South Korea are subject to a uniform AD rate of 21.6%.

The ruling provides immediate provisional relief for the domestic industry while the broader trade investigation continues.
