Dubai imposes four-month export ban on selected metal scrap for industrial use

Dubai Customs has implemented a temporary prohibition on the export of certain industrial waste and scrap materials, as outlined in Customs Notice No. 13/2026.

Effective from June 10, 2026, through October 8, 2026, the restriction applies to specific Harmonized System (HS) codes, including iron (72041000, 72042100, 72042900, 72043000, 72044100, and 72044900), copper (74040000), and aluminum (76020000).

The four-month measure will be automatically renewed unless officially rescinded.

Offenders will be subject to penalties under the Unified Customs Law. However, businesses may request exemptions through the Ministry of Foreign Trade's trade platform. Exemptions are available for shipments covered by valid international contracts signed prior to the notice, as well as those deemed to serve the public interest.
