600ktpy scrap steel recycling project goes into operation in Xiangtan

Hunan Chongzhong Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. officially commenced operations at the Xiangtan High-tech Zone, marking the entry of its 600,000tpy scrap steel recycling, processing, and distribution project into large-scale commercial operation.

The company's facility represents a total investment of RMB120 million (USD17.65 million) and occupies 68 mu (approximately 4.5 hectares). It integrates standardized processing workshops with R&D support facilities and features advanced process equipment including infrared spectroscopy sorting and hydraulic shearing and shredding technologies. The plant establishes a full-industry-chain system encompassing collection, sorting, processing, and distribution.

With the project now in production, it is poised to supply surrounding large-scale steel enterprises with a stable, high-quality source of recycled raw materials while significantly reducing the steel industry's reliance on primary mineral resources. Industry estimates indicate that for every ton of scrap steel utilized, 1.7 tons of iron ore and 350 kilograms of standard coal can be saved, while carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by 1.6 tons--demonstrating substantial environmental benefits.
