According to data released by Statistics Canada, domestic iron ore concentrate production totaled 5,002,749 metric tons in April 2026. This represents a 1.5% decline from the previous month and a 6.8% drop compared to the same month last year.
Shipments of iron ore concentrates saw a steeper decline, falling to 3,237,317 metric tons---down 6.1% month-over-month and 23.3% year-over-year.
Meanwhile, closing inventories for Canadian producers rose to 7,139,490 metric tons in April, marking a 1.8% increase from March but a 33.1% decrease from April 2025.
