Baosteel Baoshan Base's cold rolling 1420 pickling-tandem mill enters hot commissioning phase

After 73 days of full-process closed-loop renovation, integrated commissioning, and joint debugging, the cold rolling 1420 pickling-tandem mill at Baosteel's Baoshan Base officially entered the hot commissioning phase.

Originally commissioned on December 20, 1997, the 1420 pickling-tandem mill long served as a critical production line for high-end tinplate and cold-rolled thin sheets. It stands as one of the longest-serving and most productive thin-sheet pickling-tandem mills in China's domestic steel industry. This comprehensive upgrade represents the largest-scale, most technically challenging, and most complex collaborative online renovation project in Baosteel's cold-rolling history.

Following the upgrade, the mill will significantly enhance its ultimate manufacturing capabilities for high-dimensional-precision power battery materials used in new energy vehicles, as well as high-surface-quality food-grade tinplate. The improvements will also expand the company's footprint in premium product markets and fill critical capacity gaps for higher-value-added offerings.
