Zhejiang Xinhua Chemical Co., Ltd. commenced trial production at its waste battery resource recycling (phase I) project.
Construction of the project began in August 2023. The phase I facility occupies 28 mu (approximately 1.87 hectares) of land, with a total investment of around RMB200 million (USD29.51 million). It is equipped with a dedicated hydrometallurgical recycling production line, primarily processing spent lithium iron phosphate batteries with a processing capacity of 14,000tpy. At full capacity, the project is expected to produce approximately 2,100t of battery-grade lithium carbonate per year, along with high-value by-products including iron phosphate, aluminum powder, and sodium sulfate.
The phase I project focuses on recovering precious metal components such as lithium from the black mass. At full operational capacity, the project is projected to recover approximately 2,100t of battery-grade lithium carbonate annually, which, at current market prices, translates to an estimated annual output value of approximately RMB350–400 million (USD51.64-59.02 million).
