UK TRA recommends extension of anti-dumping duties on Chinese wire rod

The UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has published its findings from the expiry review of anti-dumping measures on imports of wire rod originating from China. The review covered the investigation period from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

According to the TRA, the review concluded that the expiry of existing measures would likely lead to a continuation or recurrence of both dumping and material injury to the domestic industry. Consequently, the TRA has proposed maintaining the current duty rates on Chinese wire rod imports-7.9% for Valin Group and 24.0% for all other Chinese exporters-and has recommended extending these rates for an additional five-year period.

During the investigation period, the UK imported 41,000 metric tons of wire rod from China. Over the longer historical timeframe spanning September 2020 to September 2025, total imports from China reached 97,000 metric tons.

The subject products are currently classified under the following HS codes: 7213 10 00, 7213 91 49, 7227 10 00, 7213 20 00, 7213 91 70, 7227 20 00, 7213 91 10, 7213 91 90, 7227 90 10, 7213 91 20, 7213 99 10, 7227 90 50, 7213 91 41, 7213 99 90, and 7227 90 95.
