Turkey imposes anti-dumping duties on CRC, GI, and PPGI from China and South Korea
Turkey's Ministry of Trade has issued its final ruling in the anti-dumping investigation into imports of certain flat steel products originating from China and South Korea, according to a notice published in the country's Official Gazette.
The investigation, which covered the period from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, determined that imports of cold-rolled flat steel (excluding annealed products), galvanized flat steel, and pre-painted flat steel from both countries were dumped, thereby causing material injury to the domestic industry.
As a result, definitive anti-dumping duties, calculated as a percentage of the CIF value, will be applied for a period of five years, effective June 16. The duty rates range from 22.37% to 32.40% for Chinese producers and exporters, and from 10.48% to 27.0% for their South Korean counterparts, depending on the specific company.
Data cited in the investigation highlights a significant surge in imports over recent years. Shipments of the subject products from China increased from 440,475 metric tons in 2021 to 613,278 metric tons during the review period, while imports from South Korea rose from 318,259 metric tons in 2021 to 589,078 metric tons over the same period.
The combined market share of Chinese and South Korean imports in Turkey's total imports of these products has also grown steadily: accounting for 41% in 2021, 43% in 2022, 52% in 2023, and reaching 53% during the investigation period.
