Manganese ore shipments via Port Hedland rise 34.9% in May 2026 from April

Manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 141,291 metric tons in May 2026, marking a 34.9% increase compared to the previous month and a 72.3% surge year on year, according to data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority.

In the same month, China accounted for 89.4% of total manganese ore shipments, while the remaining volume was sent to Indonesia. Port Hedland serves as the export hub for manganese ore produced in Western Australia's Pilbara region-an area rich in the mineral-where operations are owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group, and Atlas Manganese.
