China's foreign trade value up 14.9% in first four months

China's total imports and exports of goods reached RMB16.23 trillion (USD2.39 trillion) in the first four months of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 14.9%, according to customs statistics. Exports amounted to RMB9.33 trillion (USD1.37 trillion), up 11.3%, while imports stood at RMB6.9 trillion (USD1.02 trillion), rising 20%.

In April alone, the country's foreign trade value grew 14.2% year-on-year to RMB4.38 trillion (USD644 million). Exports increased by 9.8% to RMB2.48 trillion (USD365 million), and imports rose 20.6% to RMB1.9 trillion (USD279 million).
