Australia finalizes anti-dumping duties on Chinese hot rolled coil steel

On May 4, 2026, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission issued Notice No. 2026/043, confirming new anti-dumping (AD) duties on hot rolled coil steel imported from China.

The Australian Minister for Industry and Innovation and Minister for Science approved specific dumping margins for Chinese exporters, effective immediately. Baoshan Iron & Steel faces a duty of 59.1%, while Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel and Shanghai Meishan Iron & Steel have received rates of 38.1% and 54.9%, respectively. Hunan Valin Lianyuan Iron & Steel is subject to a 41.6% duty, and all other Chinese suppliers will face a rate of 79.0%.

Certain product categories are exempt from these measures. These include Q690MD alloy steel that complies with standard GB/T 1591-2008 or later versions. Additionally, steel grades BS700MCK2 or BS700MCK4 under standard Q/BQB 316-2018 or later versions, with a minimum yield strength of 680 MPa or above, will also not be subject to the duties.

The affected products fall under HS codes 7208.10.00.31, 7208.25.00.32, 7208.26.00.33, 7208.27.00.34, 7208.36.00.35, 7208.37.00.36, 7208.38.00.37, 7208.39.00.38, 7208.40.00.39, 7208.53.00.42, 7208.54.00.43, 7208.90.00.30, 7211.14.00.40, 7211.19.00.41, 7225.30.00.17, 7225.40.00.22, 7225.40.00.24, and 7226.91.00.67.
