Chile's copper output declines in March

Chile's copper production fell 9.04% in March compared to the same month last year, while manufacturing output dropped 4.5%, according to data released Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The Andean nation, which is the world's largest producer of copper, saw its output fall to 434,314 metric tons from 477,464 metric tons a year earlier.

Copper is widely regarded as an economic bellwether due to its extensive use across a range of industrial sectors.
