1Mtpa graphite deep processing project signed in Maoming

On April 8, the Management Committee of Maoming Binhai New Area, Oriental Energy Co., Ltd., and China Mineral Industry Investment Group Limited signed a tripartite framework agreement to develop a 1 million-tonne-per-annum natural graphite deep processing project at the Green Chemical and Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park in Maoming Binhai New Area.

The project will be constructed in three phases, with planned capacities of 300,000 tonnes each for Phases I and II, and 400,000 tonnes for Phase III. Phase I is expected to be completed within 12 months, reaching an annual output of 100,000 tonnes within its first year of operation.

Raw materials for the project will be sourced from graphite mines in Madagascar, pre-concentrated before being transported to Maoming for further processing. The final products will be used in new energy, high-end manufacturing, and electronic information industries.
