Guangyuan Hongchangsheng releases 115ktpa aluminum capacity swap plan

Guangyuan Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology has released for public consultation a capacity replacement plan for the 115,000tpa primary aluminum energy-saving and low-carbon upgrade project of Guangyuan Hongchangsheng Aluminum Co., Ltd. The consultation period runs from April 2 to April 9, 2026.

The project will be located in the Yuanjiaba Industrial Park of the Guangyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone in Sichuan Province, and will install 106 units of 400kA electrolytic cells, with construction scheduled to begin in June 2026 and commissioning planned for October 2027.

As part of the capacity replacement, 220 units of 200kA electrolytic cells, equivalent to 115,000tpa capacity, will be dismantled after the new project is completed and reaches stable operation.
