Gansu Jinlin Lithium puts phase I LFP project into operation

On January 30, Gansu Jinlin Lithium Battery New Materials Co., Ltd. commissioned the first phase of its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) project in Lanzhou New Area, marking new progress in the region's lithium battery materials supply chain.

Jinlin Lithium, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gansu Jinchuan Ruixiang New Materials Co., Ltd., is developing a 200,000-tonne-per-annum phosphate-based lithium-ion battery cathode materials project. With a total investment of RMB3.14 billion (USD452 million), the project covers 363 mu (about 24 hectares) and will be built in two phases.

Phase I, a 100,000tpa LFP production line, has now entered operation after breaking ground in April 2024, with products reaching industry-leading standards in key performance indicators such as energy density and cycle life. Phase II, also with annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes, is scheduled to begin construction in March 2026. Once fully completed, the project is expected to generate annual output value of over RMB6 billion (USD865 million) and create more than 550 jobs.
