Dazhong Mining secures first large-scale lithium mining license
Dazhong Mining announced that its subsidiary Chenzhou Chengtai Mining Investment Co., Ltd. has received a 30-year license for the Jijiaoshan lithium mine in Hunan. This is the company's first large-scale lithium mining license and also the first lithium license issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources under China's new Mineral Resources Law.
The mine will use open-pit mining followed by underground mining, producing 20 million tonnes of ore annually from open-pit operations and 8 million tonnes from underground. The total lithium resources are estimated at 489.87 million tonnes of ore, or 3.24 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). Based on industry experience and the company's tests, an annual extraction of 20 million tonnes of ore would produce 80,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate. The mine also contains strategic minerals including rubidium, tungsten, tin, niobium, and tantalum.
