China's finished steel output rises 9.7% YoY in Aug

In August 2025, China produced 69.79 million tonnes of pig iron, up by 1% YoY, 77.37 million tonnes of crude steel, down slightly by 0.7% YoY, and 122.77 million tonnes of finished steel products, rising by 9.7% YoY, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

From January to August, China's production of pig iron declined by 1.1% YoY to 579.07 million tonnes, crude steel production decreased by 2.8% YoY to 671.81 million tonnes, while finished steel products production increased by 5.5% YoY to 982.17 million tonnes.
