China wraps up feedback on latest central environmental inspection

From September 11th to 13th, China's central authorities gave feedback on the fourth batch of the third round of central environmental inspections covering five provincial-level regions, including Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Shaanxi, and Ningxia, as well as three central state-owned enterprises, namely China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., China Datang Corporation Ltd., and State Power Investment Corporation Limited.

The inspections acknowledged progress in pollution control and ecological protection but also highlighted persistent issues, including the unchecked launch of energy-intensive and high-emission projects, weak accountability at some state-owned enterprises, delays in phasing out outdated equipment, poor energy management, and falsification of monitoring data. Inspectors required inspected entities to submit rectification plans within 45 working days and pledged ongoing supervision to ensure problems are properly addressed.
