China's nonferrous metals industry sees steady growth in H1 2025
China's nonferrous metals industry continued to grow steadily in the first half of 2025. According to the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, the value-added industrial output rose by 7.6% YoY, with production of the ten major nonferrous metals reaching 40.32 million tonnes, up by 2.9% YoY. Fixed asset investment in the sector grew 16.1% YoY, with increased focus on upstream resources and emerging fields such as new energy applications. The industry is accelerating its shift toward high-end and green development.
In the second half of the year, the Association will continue advancing supply-side reforms, encouraging the orderly phase-out of outdated capacity and curbing disorderly, low-price competition, drawing on the success of capacity caps and replacement rules in the primary aluminum sector.
