On July 9, the Wenshan Zhilv aluminum project officially began production at the Yunnan Green Low-Carbon Demonstration Industrial Park. The project features two casting lines equipped with imported facilities. It uses molten aluminum supplied directly from Yunnan Hongtai's green smelter, which is alloyed, refined, and purified through online filtration before being cast into high-quality aluminum slabs using fully automated machines.
The project mainly produces 1-series, 3-series, 5-series, 6-series, and 8-series aluminum alloys, with single slabs weighing up to 40 tonnes. Once fully operational, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of RMB5.5 billion (USD767 million) and create over 300 jobs.
Yunnan has been leveraging its clean energy resources to attract leading primary aluminum producers and expand its green aluminum industry. The province's primary aluminum capacity now totals about 8.3 million tonnes, accounting for roughly 20% of China's total, ranking first nationwide.
