A super-large altered granite-type lithium deposit has been discovered in the Jijiaoshan mining area of Linwu County, Chenzhou City, according to the Department of Natural Resources of Hunan Province.
The deposit holds an estimated 490 million tonnes of lithium ore, containing about 1.31 million tonnes of lithium oxide (Li2O). It also hosts newly identified strategic minerals, including tungsten, tin, niobium, tantalum, and rubidium.
Since 2022, the Mineral Resources Survey Institute of Hunan Province and Hunan Dazhonghe Lithium Mining Co., Ltd. have been jointly exploring the Jijiaoshan mining area, using innovative prospecting methods. This world-class discovery provides a strong resource base for Chenzhou to develop its multi-billion-yuan emerging new energy industry and supports China's efforts to secure lithium supplies for its energy transition.
