Guangyuan signs major aluminum-based new materials projects

On May 24, China's Guangyuan held an investment promotion and project signing event in Chengdu, finalizing 31 aluminum-related projects worth a total of 21 billion yuan (292 million US dollars).

Key agreements signed on-site include a 400,000tpa prebaked anode project between Wangcang County and Hainan Hawthorn Tree Investment Co., Ltd., a 100,000tpa high-end aluminum deep processing project between the Guangyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone and Anhui Fenghua New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., a 300,000tpa aluminum ingot deep processing project between Cangxi County and Sichuan Yuhongrui Aluminum Co., Ltd., a 1.2 million-piece-per-annum aluminum wheel hubs project between Qingchuan County and Chengdu Sunshine Aluminum Products Co., Ltd., etc.

Guangyuan currently has an annual primary aluminum production capacity of 615,000 tonnes (58% of Sichuan's total, the highest in the province), 1.6 million tonnes of recycled aluminum production capacity, and over 2 million tonnes of aluminum processing capacity. The city has built a full industrial chain from green hydropower aluminum production to advanced processing and resource recycling.

By 2027, Guangyuan aims to expand its aluminum production capacity to include 1 million tonnes of primary aluminum, 2 million tonnes of purchased aluminum ingots, and 2.5 million tonnes of recycled aluminum capacity. The city also targets growing to 150 large-scale enterprises with a total industrial output value exceeding 100 billion yuan (13.92 billion US dollars).
