Shengrong begins production at lithium cathode additive project in Hunan
On May 28, Hunan Shengrong Technology Co., Ltd. officially started production at its lithium cathode supplement additive project in Changde Economic Development Zone. With an annual capacity of 2,000 tonnes, it is the first fully automated production line of its kind in Hunan Province, filling a gap in the industry.
The project involves a total investment of around RMB200 million (USD27.83 million) and includes three automated lines producing lithium-rich additives such as SR21 (LNO) and SR51 (LFO). Once fully operational, it is expected to achieve annual sales of RMB500 million (USD69.58) and generate RMB20 million (USD2.78 million) in tax revenue.
These additives boost battery energy density by 3–5%, extend cycle life from 5,000 to over 10,000 cycles, and reduce internal resistance, offering an innovative solution to the challenges of battery range and durability.
Industry forecasts suggest that by 2030, the global market for lithium additives will exceed 10 billion yuan (USD139 million), with single-crystal cathode additives like LNO and LFO becoming the dominant technology due to their performance advantages.
