CMOC delivers strong first-quarter performance

China Molybdenum Co., Ltd. (CMOC) reported impressive first-quarter results, posting revenue of 46.01 billion yuan (6.31 billion US dollars) and a net profit of 3.95 billion yuan (USD541 million yuan), marking a year-on-year increase of 90.47%.

During Q1 2025, the company produced 170,574 tonnes of copper, up by 15.65% YoY and setting a new record for the same period. Cobalt production reached 30,414 tonnes, a 20.68% YoY increase. Molybdenum output was 3,341 tonnes, down by 3.83% YoY, while tungsten production rose 3.73% YoY to 1,993 tonnes. Niobium output achieved a single-quarter record of 2,616 tonnes, up by 4.40% YoY. Phosphate fertilizer production reached 279,453 tonnes, a slight increase of 0.24% YoY.

On the sales side, first-quarter copper sales totaled 123,836 tonnes and cobalt sales reached 24,219 tonnes, representing slight YoY declines of 1.36% and 0.24%, respectively. However, benefiting from higher prices, revenue from the copper and cobalt segments rose by 43.91% and 83.90%, respectively. Additionally, tungsten sales grew by 12.42% YoY to 1,993 tonnes, niobium sales increased by 8.83% YoY to 2,729 tonnes, molybdenum sales edged up by 0.89% YoY to 3,438 tonnes, and phosphate fertilizer sales rose by 0.24% to 229,652 tonnes.
