Hoshine Silicon begins production at silicon metal project in Zhaotong

On December 27, Hoshine Silicon Industry Co., Ltd. commenced phase one production at its hydropower silicon circular economy project in Zhaotong, Yunnan.

With a total investment of RMB20.5 billion (USD2.81 billion), the project has a total planned land area of 4,685Mu (312 hectares), where it will build production capacity of 800,000tpa of organosilicone monomer, 800,000tpa of silicon metal in two phase. Phase one and phase two each has annual production capacities of 400,000t of organosilicone monomer and 400,000t of silicon metal. The project also includes deep-processing of siloxane.

When fully operational, the project would achieve annual total output value of RMB30 billion (USD4.11 billion), industrial added value of RMB8 billion (USD1.1 billion) and tax revenue of RMB2.3 billion (USD315 million), and is expected to help create 12,000 jobs, with annual logistic transportation to exceed 6 million tonnes.
