China sees higher production of metals key to green transition
In the first three quarters of 2024, China achieved increased production of metals that are critical to the new-energy industry, including 3.73 million tonnes of silicon metal, up by 41.9% YoY, 232,000 tonnes of nickel cathode, up by 3.2% YoY, 105,000 tonnes of refined cobalt, up by 9.8% YoY, 459,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate, up by 25.9% YoY, and 518,000 tonnes of ternary cathode materials, up by 13% YoY, according to China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
