Baotou Jan-Oct rare earth ore production up by 110% YoY
China's Baotou saw a 22.9% increase in industrial added value above the designated size for the first ten months of 2023, up by 5.1 percentage points from a year-ago period and recording a two-digit growth for 38 consecutive months, according to official data.
From January to October, Baotou's production of polysilicon and monocrystal silicon increased by 280% and 64.6% YoY respectively to 293,000 tonnes and 227,000 tonnes. Production of rare earth ores increased by 110% YoY to 259,000 tonnes, while that of rare earth metals declined by 6.5% YoY to 10,000 tonnes. In the first ten months, the city also produced 16.31 million tonnes of pig iron, up by 6.4% YoY, 16.50 million tonnes of steel products, up by 3.7% YoY, 17.28 million tonnes of crude steel, up by 3.6% YoY, 2.23 million tonnes of primary aluminum, up by 0.1% YoY, 496,000 tonnes of aluminum products, up by 78% YoY, and 681,000 tonnes of ferroalloys, down by 0.8% YoY.
