Baotou reports 87.8% increase in Jan-Aug rare earth mine production

China's Baotou city reported an increase in the majority of industrial products in the first eight months of 2023. The city produced 215,000t of monocrystal silicon and 175,000t of polysilicon from January to August, up by 430% and 61.6% from the prior year period, despite the decline in price. The rare earth mine production increased by 87.8% YoY to 195,000t and rare earth compound production increased by 3.6% YoY to 70,000t, while rare earth metals production declined by 4.6% YoY to 8,000t. Due to lower prices, steel products output decreased slightly by 0.03% during the period.
