China produced 77.89 million tonnes of crude steel, 69 million tonnes of pig iron and 111.93 million tonnes of steel products in December 2022, down by 9.8%, 4.6% and 2.6% year on year respectively, while the country's coke production increased by 7.4% from the year-ago period to 39 million tonnes, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

In 2022, China's crude steel production totaled 1,013 million tonnes, down by 2.1% YoY. The annual pig iron production decreased by 0.8% YoY to 863.83 million tonnes, and steel products output declined by 0.8% YoY to 1,340 million tonnes, while coke production increased by 1.3% YoY to 473.44 million tonnes.
