On November 16, Handan government publicized the implementation plan on expediting high-quality development of local iron and steel industry.

According to the plan, development goals for the local iron and steel industry include: advance technical innovation; extend industrial chain; prohibit illegal production capacity; optimize industrial structure; strengthen international cooperation; integrate iron ore resources; deepen green reform; advance steel production via electric furnaces; and promote intelligent manufacturing.
