Shanghai Customs stated recently that in the first ten months of 2022 Shanghai's import and export value kept growing steadily to RMB3.46 trillion (USD0.48 trillion), up by 5.3% from that in the same period of last year and accounting for 10% of the national total. In particular, the export value was RMB1.41 trillion (USD0.20 trillion), up by 12.5% YOY, and import value was RMB2.05 trillion (USD0.29 trillion), up by 0.9% YOY.

As Shanghai's high-end industry plays an increasingly leading role, China expedited its expansion into international new energy products market. In the first ten months of 2022, Shanghai exported mechanical and electrical products worth RMB958.08 billion (USD134 billion), up by 11.4% YOY. In particular, export of Li-ion storage battery, electric passenger autos and solar energy battery were worth RMB19.99 billion (USD2.79 billion), RMB65.02 billion (USD9.08 billion) and RMB7.03 billion (USD0.98 billion) respectively, up by 460%, 120% and 53% YOY.
