Statistics from Shandong Provincial Bureau of Statistics show that in the first half of 2022 industrial enterprises above designated size in Shandong consumed 187.045 million tons of coal, down by 2.584 million tons or 1.4% from in the same period of 2021, with the decreasing rate expanding by 0.9 percentage points from that in the first quarter of this year.

In terms of consumer industry, six high energy consuming industries used a total of 177.902 million tons, down by 1.0%. In particular, coal consumption of nonferrous metal, non-metal, petroleum, and iron and steel industry decreased respectively by 14.5%, 12.1%, 5.8% and 4.2%, while coal consumption of electricity and chemical industry grew respectively by 2.4% and 1.1%.
