China's foreign trade value up 15.3% in first five months
China's total imports and exports of goods reached RMB20.68 trillion (USD3.05 trillion) in the first five months of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 15.3%, according to customs statistics. Exports amounted to RMB11.91 trillion (USD1.76 trillion), up 11.8% YoY, while imports stood at RMB8.77 trillion (USD1.29 trillion), increasing 20.5% YoY.
In May alone, the country's foreign trade value grew 16.9% year-on-year to RMB4.45 trillion (USD656.46 billion). Exports went up by 13.8% to RMB2.59 trillion (USD382.07 billion), and imports rose 21.5% to RMB1.86 trillion (USD274.38 billion).
